We are proud to introduce the 'Gwent Health Guide’ - a new online tool designed to assist the residents of Gwent in navigating the complexities of our local healthcare system.
With Winter fast approaching, the web tool, which is accessible through the Health Board's website: https://abuhb.nhs.wales/hospitals/gwent-health-guide/, aims to empower our patients in finding the right health and wellbeing services for themselves, their family members, and loved ones.
Staff can also use the ‘Gwent Health Guide’ to direct people to the appropriate service. This will help take the pressure off our services and improve patient experience – particularly over the upcoming busy winter period.
The new guide was developed in response to concerns expressed by the community about the challenges they face in knowing where to seek medical help from NHS services.
As other online guides across Wales can provide conflicting information that is not always appropriate for our Health Board’s model of healthcare, this resource has been produced specifically for the Gwent area and has been tailored to our services. This public-facing guide follows the training package we have already delivered to our colleagues in Primary Care to ensure their Care Navigation guidance is in line with the model of healthcare in Gwent.
The online resource offers advice on where to go for a wide range of health and well-being concerns in the Gwent area, from life-threatening illnesses and injuries, to mental health difficulties and minor ailments. Easy to use and accessible 24/7, the tool is available in both English and Welsh, as well as offering an option to translate its contents into more than 100 languages via the ReciteMe assistive toolbar.
